About Martha and Bluestone Farm
Founded in 2000, Bluestone Farm specializes in Hunters, Jumpers and Equitation, offering lessons, training and showing, as well as sales, leases and placing horses. Owner and trainer, Martha Erickson, is a life-long equestrian, with forty plus years as an equestrian professional.
Martha started her professional career in Southern California, working for a nationally known sales barn that specialized in show jumping horses. During that time, she started her first business training, teaching lessons, attended horse shows and developing a clientele.
Martha relocated from Southern California to the Chicago area and started new hunter/jumper business. Martha also participated in the design and creation of a 2.5 million dollar, state-of-the-art equestrian facility. Her business included attending nationally rated horse shows, training programs, horse sales and a large lesson program. During the winter months, Martha traveled with clients to the Winter Equestrian Festival, located in Wellington, Florida. The WEF circuit annually attracts tens of thousands of the top horses and riders from around the world, including Olympic horses and riders.
After moving to New Hampshire, Martha opened Bluestone Farm. While teaching lessons and attending horse shows, Martha coached several High School Equestrian Teams, which included St Paul's School, Bow High School and Dublin School, respectively. Martha also worked with Becker College in Worcester, Massachusetts to supply the school's Equine Science and Equestrian Program with many of the horses used during the academic year.
Martha was involved with Fieldstone Show Park for a number of years. FSP is a horse show facility that hosted 7 weeks of nationally rated hunter/jumper shows. Her responsibilities included Horse Show Sponsors and Vendors, ordering awards and ribbons, presentation of awards to the winners of premier classes, the VIP Tent, planning a number of special events and decorating the show grounds, including flower arrangements for all the jumps in each of the 5 show rings.
During this same time, she also worked with CSI Greenwich, located at the Greenwich Polo Club, in Greenwich, CT. She was in charge of decorating the competition arena, including the individual Grand Prix jumps as well as the grand stand entrances with live flowers and plants for the week long International Show Jumping event.
Currently, Martha is teaching lessons, involved in horse sales and attending horse shows in the area. She is located in Bedford, New Hampshire but also travels to other barns and private properties to teach clients.
In addition to her work with Bluestone Farm, Martha also served as a board member of the Concord-Merrimack County SPCA, She was the Board President for BITS, ETC (Back In The Saddle Equine Therapeutic Center) and was a board member for NHHSET (New Hampshire High School Equestrian Team)
